Our Cocoa Growing Regions
Key to making good quality chocolate is the quality and flavour profile of the cocoa beans you use. We spent 18 months sampling cocoa beans from more than 40 regions from around the globe and evaluating them extensively. Cocoa beans were evaluated against the following criteria:
Public sensory feedback.
Demonstrate the richness and diversity of the cocoa bean flavour spectrum.
Ability to supply.
Chocolate makers sensory evaluation.
We decided on six growing regions which is also the selection for our Single Origin range of chocolate where the richness and diversity of the bean flavours can be experienced.
GROWN AND CRAFTED IN AFRICA
As a chocolate company based in Africa and owned be Africans most of our chocolate is made with cocoa beans sourced from the Bundibugyo district in Western Uganda. The beans are produced by small scale farmers who are also responsible for harvesting, fermentation and drying. All of the cocoa beans that we get from these farmers are UTZ certified.
